One Cherechi Okonkwo, medical doctor, has been admitted at the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, Imo State, over the injuries inflicted on him by his wife.
The wife, a nurse, allegedly removed the husband’s upper teeth, the tip of his tongue and a part of his lower gum.
Okonkwo, a gynaecologist with the FMC, Owerri was in a coma when he rushed to the hospital, had doctors battling to save his life before he later regained consciousness.

The couple who were living at the World Bank area of Owerri engaged in a quarrel before the ugly incident.
The reason for the quarrel was not immediately clear.
His nose, upper teeth, the tip of his tongue and part of his lower gums were cut off by his wife.
She then called the mother of her husband to come and carry her son’s corpse.
The doctor was rushed to the hospital and he was stabilised. Although he is conscious, he cannot talk since he’s on tracheotomy.
