As pressure continues to mount on the Inspector General of Police to remove the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura, so as to allow a transparent investigation into the murder of late Ikoku Mechanic, Chima Ikwunado and torture of for others by personnel of the Eagle Crack Unit command, family of the late Ikoku mechanic has said they are under pressure to drop the demand for justice.
Anthony Ikwunado, the immediate elder brother of the late mechanic said the family was invited to a closed-door meeting with the commissioner of police on Wednesday after the command was served with the fundamental right court notice which the family and Ikoku spare parts dealers instituted against the police.
He said the commissioner of Police is asking that the matter be settled out of court.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the command did not immediately respond to inquiries for comment on the quest by the police for the case to be settled out of court.
The police which initially denied that the late mechanic was tortured to death, said six officers have been arrested in connection with the death of the late mechanic, including one sergeant Rose who dragged him by his manhood.
The command also said the commander of the E-Crack Unit has been redeployed to allow transparency in the investigation.
The result of an autopsy ordered by the parties involved will be out in a week’s time.
Ikwunado was arrested by the police unit on December 19, 2019, and subsequently tortured to death while in detention.
The police alleged that they were armed robbers but a ruling by a magistrate court after a DPP advise said Ikwunado and four others arrested with him were arrested on mere suspicion, saying they have no case to answer.
