How hotel owner, six others were killed on valentine’s day in Rivers Community

Unknown gunmen on Friday invaded a hotel in Okporowo-Ogbakiri in Emohua LGA of Rivers State, killing the owner of the hotel, Comrade Chinedu Ndala, and six other men.

Sources in the community said the gunmen said to be suspected cultists killed Ndala and six other men who were meeting in the hotel.

They said the victims and their killers were members of the same cult group, adding that the clash was between older and new members.

They said the new members chased their older members away from the area in the bid to be in charge of the group after dispossessing them of their guns.

The local sources said they claimed the old members were not vibrant enough.

The raid occurred around 09:28 pm when they entered through the ceiling and opened fire on Ndala and the people celebrating Valentine in his hotel.

According to some eyewitnesses, from the Community, two men among the dead from Ahia Ogbakiri in the same Ogbakiri wezina.

The sources said the old members of the cult group had returned to the community to take back their position in the group before the clash ensure.

Nnamdi Omoni, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying that six and not eight persons died.

He said police officers have been mobilised to the troubled area and calm has been restored.
