Rivers police prosecute 2 for pouring acid on female

Police in Rivers State have prosecuted Precious Amadi and Bright Amadi for pouring acid on one Fidelia Chinedu, ‘f’ after maliciously damaging their victim’s Hitarget wrapper.

The defendants who were arraigned on three count charges were on Tuesday granted bail by Chief Magistrate, Nneka Eze Obuzor with the sum of N300,000 each.

Counts one, two and three in parts said: “You Previous Amadi ‘m’ and Bright Amadi ‘m’ at Ipo community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State did pour a corrosive substance suspected to be acid on the right arm of one Fidelia Chinedu.

“That you (the defendants) did maliciously damage one Hitarget wrapper, a property of the complainant valued at N4,000 and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol 11, Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.”

The case was however adjourned till February 19, 2020, for the continuation of the evidence of PW3 (investigation police officer)

The same day, two suspected Aluu thieves pleaded not guilty before the same magistrate and were granted bail with the sum of N100,000 each.

The defendants, Osita Elijah and Odinakachi Ejikeme were accused of beaten and stealing one Levi Nwankwo’s wristwatch valued at N5,000 at Aluu community in Ikwerre LGA.

They were slammed on four counts with charge number PMC/238/2020 and the case had been adjourned till March 25, 2020.
