U.S denies reports its embassy denied Oyedepo visa

The United States Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, has denied reports circulating in the media that it denied a visa to the bishop of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo.

The US Embassy stated this in a tweet on Friday.

Various media organizations had said that the presiding Bishop of the Living faith church was denied visa at the US Embassy in Lagos, alleging that the embassy said: “Bishop did not qualify for visa renewal in its assessment and urged him to try again.”

But the US Mission said that the information is not true and urged members of the public to disregard the news.

“#FalseNews Alert! Be advised, the reports making the rounds about a visa being denied to Nigerian Bishop Oyedepo are false.

“If you have seen this manufactured item in the media, help defeat this #misinformation by communicating to everyone that it is completely false,” the tweet reads.
