Court dismisses petition against Lyon’s victory

The Bayelsa election petition tribunal has trashed one of the petitions filed against David Lyon by the governorship candidate of the Green Party, Eneyi Zidougha.

The petitioner resolved not to continue with the petition and applied for its withdrawal.

The petitioner who was absent at the proceedings was also asked to pay N50,000 each to Lyon and other respondents in the petition.

Lyon and the other respondents had earlier argued that Zidougha’s petition lacked merit and should be dismissed.

The judge subsequently dismissed the case.
