Youths accuse MOSOP of partly behind killings in Ogoniland

By Brave Dickson

Youths under the auspices of the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Council have accused the leadership of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) of partly behind some killings and insecurity in Ogoniland.

The group viewed the lingering factions in MOSOP as a potential security threat in Ogoniland.

The National Treasurer of the group and Ogoni youth activist. Comrade Matthew Dighi who dropped the hint told our correspondent that some bad groups are affiliated with the factions in MOSOP.

He said: “The so-called MOSOP has disappointed us.

“Our leaders are giving us wrong information just to use our youths for their political interest.

“The bad leadership in MOSOP is partly responsible for the killings and insecurity in Ogoniland.

“When there is a division in MOSOP, its leaders usually sponsor different groups against each other.

“The factions in MOSOP have some bad groups who are benefitting from them. They give these bad groups wrong information to go against each other, leading to unrest in Ogoniland.”

The Ogoni activist also doubted the ability of the interim steering committee of MOSOP to do the needful, adding that its capacity to pilot the affairs of MOSOP is not in sight.
