Civil Rights Councils asks IGP to investigate murder of mechanic by E-Crack unit in PH

Civil Rights Council in Rivers State has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the Killing of Chima Ikwunado by Eagle (Commissioners) Crack unit of the Rivers State Police Command.

The Council in a statement by its chairman, Prince Wiro, on Friday, called on the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu to investigate the alleged torturing to death Mr Ikwunado, a mechanic in Ikoku, Diobu, PortHarcourt by Eagle Crack Police unit otherwise known as Commissioner Squad.

Civil Rights Council expressed shock that despite several complaints the council sent to the Commissioner of Police about the activities of the unit under his command, the unit was still indulging in act of torture.

The Council called on IGP Mohammed Adamu to ensure Justice is done and seen to be done in the circumstance as it will serve as a deterrent to other erring officers.

The Council said it shall work in synergy with other right groups and the families if the victim to ensure Justice is served to all parties involved.
