Dakkada FC ends Rivers United winning streak in Uyo

Dakkada FC of Uyo ended Rivers United of Port Harcourt winning streak following their two one victory in week 14 encounter of Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.

The match was played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Dakkada FC opened the scoring in the 11th minutes of the game through Spencer Bassey before Azubuike Egwuekwe’s own goal in the 45th minutes doubled the lead for the home side before the half time.

Rivers United, however, got one goal back via a penalty converted by Bamba Bakari in the 88th minutes of the game.
The penalty kick was not enough for the Port Harcourt based side as Dakkada FC held on to secure the three maximum points from the match.

Despite the loss, Rivers United is still third on the NPFL table with 24 points from 14 matches while Dakkada FC is now fourth with 23 points from 14 games.

Rivers United will next welcome Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Wednesday, 15 January on match-day 15 fixture of the NPFL at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.

Elsewhere, Heartland FC defeated Abia Warriors one-nil in an oriental derby played at the Dan Ayiam Stadium, Owerri.

Ifeanyi Ubah United were also three-one winners over visiting Warri Wolves FC at Nnewi.

Jigawa Golden Stars defeated Adamawa United three two in a five-goal thriller as Kwara United edged Katsina United two-nil in Ilorin.

Lobi Stars of Makurdi pip MFM FC of Lagos one-nil to climb on top of the league table with 27 points from 13 matches.

Plateau United was demoted to the second place on the log after playing a goalless draw against Akwa United in Jos.

Sunshine Stars of Akure secures the only away victory of the week with a two-one victory over Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
