The 13 newly sworn-in Commissioners in Governor Nyesom Wike’s cabinet has been advised to resign their appointments if Wike fails to fund their respective ministries.
Some aides to the governor had resigned in the past due to his refusal to funds their ministries.
The state chapter of the Labour Party, through its chairman, Prince Favour Reuben, which handed the advice in Port Harcourt on Monday, noted that no ministry or commissioner could function effectively without funding.

Reuben advised any commissioner whose ministry did not receive adequate funding to resign rather than being contented with bearing official title of commissioner without being empowered to carry out the task.
“They should not just sit down there and complain and grumble if they don’t receive funding for their ministry they should resign”,
The party chair also called on Wike to pay the new minimum wage, saying “If states like Sokoto, Katsina could pay the minimum wage, then what is Rivers State doing.”
