One burnt dead in Motorbike accident in Ahoada

One person has been burnt alive following motorbike accident in Jointkrama community one in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State

The incident occurred on Saturday beside government general hospital.

The accident also damaged one eye of another victim.

It was a busy market day when two bikes collided due to bad spot on the road which they said was eroded by flood.

An eyewitness who doubles as the
acting Youth President of Isua Jointkrama 2, Comrade George ThankGod narrated the incident to our correspondent as saying that the parking of a military van made the bike riders not to notice the bad spot on the road.

He said: “Since last year, the road has been dilapidated by flood erosion, and this accident happened on a bad spot that has not been maintained.

“What led to the accident was that a military van was parked by the bad spot of the road which is also a sharp corner.

“The road was very busy because it was a market day.

“Two bikes were coming on opposite direction, while trying to dodge the parked military van got collided because the bike riders didn’t know that bad spot was around there.

“As soon as the military men noticed that a fatal accident had occurred there, they zoomed off with their military van.

“People rushed to the scene to rescue the victims but was unfortunate that one has died instantly due to burns while the rider of the other motorbike had lost one of his eyes.

“They have taken the injured who are still alive to the hospital.”
