Final year student of Rivers State University stabbed to death

A final year student in the department of law, Rivers state University has been stabbed to death by unknown assailants.

The victim, Itonyo Matilda Mark was reportedly raped before she was subsequently stabbed by her assailants, her friends said.

Theportcitynews gathered that she was killed in her room close to the school’s main gate on Tuesday.

The reason for the killing has not yet been ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

Friends said she was a very hardworking and dedicated churchgoer.

They said that apart from being a law student, the 24-year-old was also a dancer and a hairdresser who toiled to make her life better.

Her schoolmates equally described her death as a blow on the faculty.

The Rivers State Police Command said they are investigating the incident.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the command said that perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to book.

Her department also suspended all academic activities to honour her.

Her body was subsequently deposited to the mortuary.
