Scores injured as Police, protesters clash at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt

Police and protesters clashed in front of the headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, on Monday, leaving scores injured.

The youths who invaded the Dappa Dariye building were met with stiff resistance as the officers fired gunshots and tear gas canisters to disperse the protesters.

Commuters plying the Aba road groaned as the GRA section of the Aba road was cordoned off to vehicles.

Vehicles were forced to divert to Mummy road down to stadium road.

Eyewitnesses told theportcitynews that as much as twelve persons were injured during the protest, adding that some of the injured were evacuated to the hospital.

The Commission had come under intense scrutiny

The reason for the protest is yet not known as at the time of filing this report.
