Serial killing? Body of a lady discovered inside well in Rivers Community

Youths from Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State went on rampage, destroying properties worth millions of Naira in Rumuosi community following the discovery of the corpse of a young lady in a well.

The corpse of the young lady said to be a money lender in the area was on Sunday removed from the well in Rumuosi community, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, days after she was declared missing.

The deceased who is from Okporowo village in Ogbakiri community of Emohua was dumped inside the well by her suspected killers.

News of her death quickly spread through the area sparking violence and destruction of properties by Emohua youths.

Emohua youths accused Rumuosi community of killing the lady, prompting the flash rampage.

The youths later marched with the corpse chanting war songs, vandalising shops and people’s properties.

They subsequently headed towards the Choba axis of the East-West Road with the corpse to their community.

However, Police and OSPAC vigilantes stepped in to quell the actions of the youths and forestall further breakdown of law and order.

Rumuosi locals said the actions of Emohua youths stand condemned, adding that the girl must have been killed by criminals operating in the area.

They added that the community will seek redress over the destruction of their properties by the rampaging youths.

Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police public relations officer did not respond to inquiries for comments.
