Rivers State Assembly adopts 2020/2022 MTEF

The Rivers State House of Assembly has adopted the 2020/2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework in the state.

This followed a letter sent to the Assembly by Governor Nyesom Wike requesting for the House’s approval to enable the Executive plan the 2020 fiscal year budget.

Presenting the documents, Leader of the House and member representing Obio/Akpor Constituency 1 Martins Amaewhule appealed to members to grant the governor’s request to enable the Executive to present the 2020 budget.

Amaewhule’s appeal was supported by Chief Whip of the House, and member representing Ogu/Bolo state constituency, Evans Bipi.

The MTEF contains the fiscal revenue projection, as well as the expenditure profiles and parameters which the 2020 budget is anchored on.

Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has given first reading to Rivers State contributory health protection program bill sent to the house by governor Nyesom Wike for consideration and passage into Law.

The bill proposes to establish a, “Contributory Health Protection Program to ensure that residents of the state have access to effective, quality and affordable healthcare services, pursuant to the promises by the state government to improve the health and living conditions of residents of the state”.
