As the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas, NLNG continues to promote a peaceful environment that supports its operation, the company has promised to stop at nothing to ensure the capacity development of youths from its host communities and the nation at large who show interest and qualify for its numerous programmes.
This is as the company on Tuesday graduated 89 youths in its Youths Empowerment Scheme during a ceremony at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt.
The company said that the ‘YES’ programme has produced over 1000 graduates across NLNG’s 110 host communities.
It said most of them acquired training in hair-dressing, catering and events management, fashion designing, photography and video, welding and fabrication, woodwork and furniture making.
At the Tuesday’s graduation ceremony, 17 youths graduated in welding, 24 in catering and hotel management, another 17 in automotive training, 16 in farm management and 15 in Video production and photography.

Mr Dappa Brown Chairman, Finima Development Committee said YES is one of the areas NLNG has shown itself as a great corporate citizen.
He urged other companies to emulate NLNG’s numerous strides in community relations and sustainable development.
Permanent Secretary, River State Ministry of Employment, Lawson Ikuru said Rivers State Government is happy with NLNG in its efforts to empower Rivers Youths.
He Urged NLNG to enable the graduates to work in its establishments.
The company said those who graduated from its programme has a responsibility to reset the baseline of their respective communities by becoming entrepreneurs who can also train or employ others from the community or even pick professional jobs.
“The intensive vocational training which spanned between 4 and 6 months have empowered these young men and women with economic skills and the evidencing national certifications to thrive as entrepreneurs and employers of labour in their chosen fields”, GM External Relations of the company, Eyono Fatayi-Williams said.
