The Executive Chairman of Eleme local government area, Philip Okparaji has called on the apex body of the mass media profession in the state to help Eleme in making a case for its people by presenting their plight to the world through the respective media channels.
Okparaji said with the numerous companies located in Eleme, sons and daughters of the area are still largely unemployed as even qualified and indigent persons from the LGA are barely considered for employment.
He spoke when the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, including corresponding chapels of some newspapers in Eleme, paid him a visit at the council secretariat.
He stresses that the mass media must bring to the fore the sufferings and yearnings of Eleme people.

According to him, the impression outside the area is that Eleme is blessed and rich whereas the companies operating in the area have consistently refused to pay statutory fees or aid the people and local government in any way.
The LGA Chairman while giving an account of his stewardship, explained that his administration has embarked on scores of projects including the UN standard Water project at Ebubu, the speedy completion of the new Eleme LGA Secretariat, Rehabilitation of the deplorable Ogale- Aleto road, acquisition of cars for councillors as well as the prompt payment of salary and allowances.

On his part, the Chairman of NUJ, Stanley Job Stanley pledged the support of the body for his administration adding that they are proud of his feat haven grown from being a journalist to the executive chairman of Eleme LGA.
He challenged him not to forget his beginning but leave a legacy for posterity.
