Breaking: Police kill notorious kidnap kingpin in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command says its personnel have killed a suspected criminal who kidnaps and terrorizes commuters along the Port Harcourt/Owerri road.

DSP Nnamdi Omoni, the Police Public Relations Officer, told newsmen that the cultist and kidnap kingpin who terrorizes people in Ikwerre local government area was killed last night after the criminal and his gang engaged Police in a gun duet.

Omoni said the notorious criminal identified as Promise Nduka Nwome, aka Agbaisiegbe of Omerelu, was killed in Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers state when the cultist and his gang attempted to hijack a commercial bus returning from Owerri into Port Harcourt.

He explained further that the criminals on sighting the police engaged them in a gun battle which left him fatally wounded while the other members of the gang fled with gunshot wounds.

The police image maker appealed to members of the public to furnish the police with information on anybody treating gun wounds outside the hospitals.

He said items recovered from the criminals include one AK47 rifle and several arms and ammunition.
