Civil Rights Council has called on the Rivers State Police command to ensure speedy prosecution of David Amawhule for rape, kidnapping and robbery.
Amawhule who was alleged to have robbed a family of 184,000 and cell phones in Rumuodara, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, also abducted a 13-yr-old girl and took her to an uncompleted building and raped her for hours.
The incident, theportcitynews gathered, occured on Monday, 16th September, when the suspect broke into the family’s home at Okporo Road, Rumudara in Obio-Akpor Local Government.
The suspect who is presently at Okporo Police in Rumuodara was arrested by a vigilante group on Friday.

The Chairman, Civil Rights Council in Rivers State, Prince Wiro, said the violence perpetrated against the thirteen years old girl by the said David who was arrested by a vigilante group on Friday 20 September 2019 while on another operation is highly condemnable.
“As Human Rights Advocacy group We believe that the best way to salvage the emotion of the little girl who has been in serious pains after the incident is to ensure a directly proportional punishment is meted out to the suspect inline with the law.
“Civil Rights Council team who visited the victim and her family last Friday is still in shock at the level of physical and emotional damage done to the girl by the suspect.
“We use this medium to draw the attention of the International Federation of Women Lawyers(FIDA), NAWOJ, NUJ and Nigerians of good conscience to the plight of the 13 years old girl.
“We equally commend Comrade Frank Nzube Weli, the President of Rumuodara Youth and his entire executives for ensuring the arrest of David Amawhule after painstaking efforts.”
