2 standing trial for stealing tricycle in Port Harcourt

Joseph Etim, ‘M’, aged 18 and Philip Chigaemezu, ‘M’, aged 25 are now telling a magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt all they know about a stolen tricycle popularly called Keke Napep belonging to Igboegwu Chike.

The tricycle which was said to have worth N850,000 was allegedly stolen earlier this month at Eneka Road, Rumunduru in Port Harcourt by the defendants.

In considering the bail application of the duo defendants, presiding Magistrate, Nneka Eze granted them bail at the sum of N800,000 each with one surety in like sum.

According to the charge: “That you Joseph Etim and Philip Chigaemezu on the 8th of September, 2019 along Eneka Road, Rumunduru in Port Harcourt did conspire among yourselves to steal and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Vol. 11 Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

“That you (defendants) on the said date and place did steal a tricycle popularly known as Keke Napep valued at Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only, a property of Igboegwu Chike and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Vol. 11 Laws of Rivers State of Nigeria, 1999.”

Having pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge levelled against them, the court, however, adjourned the case till the 25th of September, 2019.
