Ahoada West Community deserted as pipeline explosion enters day 2

As explosion from the crude oil pipeline belonging to Nigerian Agip Oil Company enters day two in Ubeta Community, Ahaoda-West local government area of Rivers State, the lawmaker representing Ahoada-West constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Okpokiri Wanaka Okpokiri has called on the Federal government and relevant agencies to intervene in putting off the ongoing fire .

Olufemi Ogunkilede reports that Okpokiri who visited the community for an on-spot-assessment, said the present situation of the explosion will course environmental hazards on the people if urgent steps are not taking .

He urged the people of Ubeta community to stay away from the area to avoid further explosion.

Chimezie Nathaniel, the Paramount Ruler of the community said he had reported the spill to Agip company before it exploded, adding that the health of the people is at stake.

Chimezie Nathaniel further said people of the community have fled their homes for the safety.
