Killing of girls threat to modern-day society – Stewart

Member Representing Okrika Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Linda Somiari Stewart, has said that there is no more significant threat to modern-day society than the fear of serial killers as their modus-operandi are always ruthless, horrendous and inhumane.

Stewart who was reacting to the killing of young girls in hotels in Rivers State said it’s terrifying when these set of serial killers are possibly ritualistic, adding that the fact that they target complete strangers with the pleasure of murdering them with no clear motive makes it even more sickening.

“This is the harsh reality we are faced with as a society.

“Subjecting the peace-loving and hardworking people of Rivers State to the fears of an insane set of persons killing our women, wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters in hotels is a despicable and distasteful crime to God and humanity.

“This is not what we are known for as Rivers people; these are not the days we worked hard for. We are peace-loving, self-respecting, hospitable people concerning human life.

“These past few weeks, our streets have been littered with mutilated bodies of female victims who have been murdered in similar patterns which sicken all right-thinking people.

“It is equally annoying to hear and read the name tags assigned to the victims. We must begin by taking up the responsibility of being our sisters’ keepers.
Please let every one of us be careful in all daily endeavours.
