Killing: Police seal motel, arrest manager, receptionist in Port Harcourt

Police in Rivers State have shut down a motel at the Rumuola axis of Port Harcourt following the death of a young lady in one of its rooms.

The lady, who was the latest victim in the orgy of killings of young ladies in the state, was reportedly murdered on Sunday.

The latest murder which followed a similar pattern in what police say looks like the work of the cartel, had forced discussions on several platforms especially on social media.

Sources say an unidentified man lodged in the motel with the lady but escaped after committing the heinous crime.

A cleaner working in the motel said she discovered the lifeless body on Sunday morning while carrying out routine cleaning of rooms.

She added that the man who lodged with the lady gave false information which was entered into the guest book, adding that there was also no means of identifying the victim.

Nnamdi Omoni, the public relations officer of the Rivers State police command said the manager and desk officer of the motel have been arrested.

Also arrested was the receptionist of the motel, adding that the trio were arrested so as to provide vital information that would aid the police in its investigation.

“For now, what the CP said is that we should preserve the place pending when the police will take action. The place is a motel in Rumuola.

“Only the desk officer, the receptionist and the manager of the motel are with us. They just came to make a statement to us. They should be able to help us with information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.”
