Hotel owners in Rivers State say they are working with Police and the Department of State Security, DSS, to halt the trending killing of young girls in hotels in the state.
This is as there were unconfirmed reports of another killing at an unidentified hotel in Rumuola on Sunday.
Eugene Nwauzi, the Chairman of Nigeria Hotels Association, Rivers State Chapter, told journalists that the association is working with security agencies to stop the trend.
He said that the association has inaugurated a special task force that will ensure hotels implement the agreed 10 point standard operational procedures as part of security measures.
He also said the association would make sure hotels comply before the end of the deadline which is in two weeks time.
Reacting to the Sunday killing, the Rivers State Police Command’s Spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni, said he also saw the pictures circulating on social media.
Omoni said he would contact the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Rumuola to investigate and give him a full report on the development.
He said the killings look like the work of a cartel, stressing that the command would break the backbone of the cartel.
Omoni said the command needs time, adding that the killings have become an embarrassment to the force.
He assured the public that the command would arrest perpetrators of the crime.
