Killing of young women in Rivers State: ‘We have made some arrests’ – Police

The Rivers State police command has said its operatives have apprehended suspects responsible for the serial killings in Port Harcourt.

The arrests come in the wake of killings of young women in Port Harcourt for ritual purposes.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration at the State Police Command, Chucks Enwonwu said this while addressing some concerned ladies led by Soibi Ibibo-Jack who are protesting the rise in the killing of women in Port Harcourt.

The women marched to the Police Command to submit a petition to demand a more serious approach to tackling the crime.

Enwonwu said that some suspects are already in custody over the killings, adding that investigations are ongoing and when the force concludes its investigation, the suspects would be charged to court.

He urged them to be law-abiding and to also report criminal activities to the police whom he said have been equipped for a swifter response.
