Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has assured Rivers people that his administration is still committed to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.
Speaking while commissioning Port Harcourt Pleasure Park Cinema, the governor said good facilities would be put in place to meet the world-class standard.
He, however, encouraged residents to patronize the Cinema rather than traveling outside the country to have some pleasure that could be derived in the state.
“I chose the best construction company to do this because I love Rivers State, I will not for any reason slowdown in putting the best for the people. I have said it before that this second tenure would be like our first tenure, we would do everything possible to satisfy the people of our state.
“The state government will not run this project so that it will not die, I urge you all to stop traveling to Dubai, Abuja, going to Spar, come to Port Harcourt Cinema, it has everything. There is nothing you will look for in Abuja that is not provided for you here, stay in Rivers State and spend your money in the state”
Governor Wike further affirmed that he would continue to defend the interest of Rivers people.
Also, Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Special Projects, Sir Onwuzuruike Okere, while giving the project description, said the cinema which has two hundred and fifty (250) sitting capacity is designed and built with international standard, stressing that it has high definition 2D and 3D format for screening movies.
“This entertainment outfit is built with the latest German technology, the walls are soundproof, apart from the cozy environment of the pleasure Park, the cinemas are in three sections, we have the VIP luxury and a lounge, 12 movies are shown all through the day from 11 am to 8 pm. The cinema is indeed meant for the overall enjoyment of the body and soul, as the saying goes; all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”
On his part, Chairman of Obio Akpor local government Council, Solomon Eke, thanked Governor Wike for building such an edifice in his local government, while pledging the support of his people all through his administration.
