The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (NLNG) has said it awarded scholarship grants worth N216 million to 12 graduates to enable them to pursue their Master’s degrees in different universities in the United Kingdom.
Sophia Horsfall, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager of the company in a statement on Tuesday in Port Harcourt said the scholarships were aimed towards providing supports to graduates to further their education.
She said that the beneficiaries would receive N18 million each for the academic programme.
Mrs Horsefall said that the scholarship covers tuition, accommodation and travels plus other living expenses for all the beneficiaries.
According to her: “The increasing number of students who apply and qualify for our post-primary, undergraduate and overseas post-graduate scholarship schemes shows our passion for education”.
The award of scholarship to the deserving beneficiaries, she noted, means that opportunities have been given to them to acquire specialised education in top UK universities.
“The Master’s degree scholarship is focused on select professional courses, including, Engineering, Geosciences, Environmental Studies, Management Sciences, Information Technology, Law and Medicine.
“So far, no fewer than 66 Nigerian students have been awarded scholarship since the programme started in 2013.
“Aside from this, NLNG has built and equipped the Bonny Vocational Centre (BVC) which has already bridged the gap in technical education in the country,” she added.
