Bro. Felix Obuah, the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), on Thursday, announced that August’s State-wide Sanitation exercise would hold on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

The RIWAMA boss said the exercise would hold across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State from 7 am – 10 am.

According to a statement by the RIWAMA boss Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, there would be strict restriction of human and vehicular movements during the period of the exercise from 7 am – 10 am.

He equally urged all Local Government Council Chairmen in the 23 Local Government Councils of the State, and Councilors to mobilise their subjects to ensure their surroundings are cleaned.

He urged them also to ensure that the waterways were cleared of debris to allow for a free flow of water.

Obuah appealed to security agencies, particularly all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders, to necessarily enforce a restriction on human and vehicular movements within the state during the sanitation period.

The Sole Administrator called on all Rivers people to comply with the directive and use the period to clean their environment and surroundings as defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted.
