An Agriculturist in Rivers State has said that the only way to tackle the insecurity menace is to awaken the entrepreneur consciousness of Youths, which will, in turn, develop the economy of the state.
Chairman Agro-Allied Trade Group Portharcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Emmanuel Ogbonda, who stated this to our reporter Tina Amanda, during the official opening of Kefo Suites in Woji Community, urged the public to stop the so much emphasis on insecurity, but focus more in meaningful activities that will develop the state.
According to him, if the government, various cooperate organizations, stakeholders and individuals can put efforts in equipping youths with good entrepreneurial/ business skills, it will help to change the Youths’ perception and drift them away from crime, stressing there are several businesses one can start with small amount of money.
“We should begin to talk less about insecurity and begin to think on the status of things when things have changed the act of crime will reduce, we are focusing so much on insecurity issues and people are taking advantage of it. Let’s face the reality of life which is changing the status of things and make our children begin to see things differently, insecurity will no longer an issue.
“We can not solve insecurity without employment, engaging the people and changing the mindset of the Youths, if our young youths are changed by doing things, they will see and be encouraged, that is the only way to make country and state grow.
On his part, Chairman Obio-Akpor local government Council, Solomon Eke, assured all business owners operating within the axis, that he is working in line with Governor Nyesom Wike’s security strategy to ensure Obio-Akpor is safe for investors and residents.
