The Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Rivers State Council has felicitated with Muslim faithfuls in Rivers State on the celebration of El-De-Kabir.
The Rivers State NUJ particularly congratulated their Muslim professional colleagues for the grace of God Almighty that made them witness this year’s celebration.
A statement jointly signed by the State Chairman of the Union, Stanley Job Stanley and Secretary, Ike Wigodo, prayed Allah to continue to bless all Muslim faithfuls and grant them the opportunity to witness many more Eid El-Kabir celebrations in good health and peace.
The statement urged Muslims in the State and the entire country to use the period to pray for national peace, religious tolerance and development of the Nigeria.
The statement noted that Eld-El-Kabir is all about sacrifice and appealed to Muslim faithfuls to make personal sacrifices that would promote good neighbourliness amongst residents in the state and work towards the greater good and development of journalists in Rivers State.
The Union regrets the high rate of insecurity across Nigeria and urged government at all levels and security agencies to work in synergy to curb the rising rate of crime in the country.
The statement further commended journalists in the state for carrying out their social responsibilities, despite threats and harassments from some quarters.
