Police kill 3 kidnappers, arrest 5 at East-West Road

Men of the newly set up Operation Sting in Rivers State has killed three suspected kidnappers at the Rumuodgo Community, Emuoha axis of the East-West Road.

Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police Command spokesman said in a statement on Monday that the kidnappers opened fire on a-16 seater passenger bus on its to Lagos from Port Harcourt.

Omoni said that the bandits tried to abduct the passengers.

The police spokesman said luck ran out of the bandits as the operatives of the new security outfit were alerted about the incident and swiftly moved to the scene

But on sighting the police team, the criminals opened fire on them and in the ensuing melee, three of the kidnappers were killed as they ran into the bush; while five persons were arrested.

Omoni said that the arrested suspects were helping the police in their investigations.
