A lawmaker and the Chief Whip of Ahoada East Legislative Assembly, Mr. Livingstone Wilson, was on Friday beaten to near death after he led the impeachment of the leader of Council.
Salvation Okorogba, the leader of the Council’s legislature was impeached by lawmakers over his inability to challenge the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Ben Eke.
Eke, it was gathered, has been treating the assembly with disdain, with the former speaker, who is said to be loyal to Eke, failing to curtail his excesses.
Some lawmakers who participated in the impeachment process described as “Reckless”, the chairman’s attempt to cage the assembly.
Sources knowledgeable in matter told our correspondent that monies meant for the assembly were constantly being withheld by the chairman without reasons.
They added that the impeachment process had been in the offing for a while.
It was also gathered that the Chairman sent thugs to beat up the lawmakers who were not in support of the impeached speaker after the impeachment plot.
Mr Wilson is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
