The five-day High-Performance Coaching Cricket Clinic will end today in Port Harcourt.
The High-Performance Coaching Clinic was put together by the Rivers State Cricket Association to take the game to the grassroots.
The Assistant Head Coach, Rivers State Cricket Association TAMUNO JOHN said the clinic has been a huge success as they have achieved over 90 percent of their set out goals.
He said that over 82 kids were participating in the clinic and believe that the programme will create more awareness for the sport of cricket in the state.
”We are here for the High-Performance Clinic and we have over 82 kids gathered here from different age groups but all from secondary schools and we have grouped them in various classes according to their level of skills”.
”We want to get players to move their game from where they are before to a much higher level. That is why we call it high-performance coaching clinic. It’s targeted towards players who have been playing over time and it’s a five-day programme and we have recorded over 90 percent success of our targeted goals” he said.
Tamuno John also commended the Chairman of the Rivers State Cricket Association Nnamdi Idika and the Head Coach of the Association, Tonye Timinadi for initiating the programme.
He noted that the clinic which is a developmental programme will aid cricket development in the state and the south-south region.
Some of the participants at the clinic told correspondent that the clinic has sharpened their skills in the game of cricket.
