The Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC has arrested a female Pastor in one of the new generation churches in Obio Akpor local government area in Rivers State for allegedly defrauding the family of MAXWELL UZUOMA of twenty-five million naira.
It was gathered that the Pastor who defrauded the family acted in the guise of a business contract, but was thereafter arrested following a petition by the office of the Public Complaint in the state.
According to the Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints, MARSHALL ISREAL, the commission forwarded the petition filed by the affected family to the EFCC after thorough investigation.
ISREAL assured the public that PCC will continue to work with relevant Government agencies in the fight against administrative injustice and other crimes for the interest of bringing a better society.
The victim of the fraud, MAXWELL UZUOMA in an interview with our reporter Tina Amanda, said the female pastor consulted a fake prophet who came to them with fake prophecies in a bid to collect more money from the family.
UZUOMA said he took the matter to PCC after they discovered that business, as claimed by the female pastor, was a scam, while commending PCC for their prompt intervention that led to the arrest of the suspect by the EFCC.
