Breaking: Hoodlums kill woman on way to children’s graduation in Rivers Community


A yet to be identified woman has been shot dead by hoodlums Along Elele-Omoku road.

The woman who was attending her children’s graduation party was killed on the spot while her driver was critically injured.

The Killing has sparked an ongoing protest in the area by National Union of Road Transport Workers, who are asking that security be beefed up in the area.

Recall that on July 10, the chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area, Ifeanyi Odili, warned indigenes against using the IKIRI-OMUDIOGA-EGBEDA-ELELE road due to multiple attacks by hoodlums in the area.

The warning came after a series of attacks on the road by hoodlums a day before left at least 5 persons dead and tens of commuters injured with valuables worth thousands stolen.

Odili had told theportcitynews via telephone that his administration is committed to sustaining the existing peace in ONELGA and ensuring its environs are sanitized of crime and criminality.

He had also advised road users to use alternative routes while efforts are being made through a series of security meetings and engagements by various Security Agents and the OSPAC by the ONELGA Council to restore sanity on the road.

The Rivers State police command is yet to react to the development.
