SARS personnel storm kidnappers’ hideout in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police command has said its men have dismantled a kidnappers’ hideout in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

Nnamdi Omoni, the state’s command public relations officer in a statement made available to theportcitynews said operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), in a sting operation on 5/7/19, following the attack on motorists along the Omerelu/Owerri Road on 4/7/19 while acting on credible information, stormed a Kidnapper’s Den at a forest in Omerelu.

Omoni said that on sighting the Police, the hoodlums engaged them but were repelled and chased farther into the forest with some of them sustaining life-threatening gunshot wounds.

He said that in the wake of the incident their Camp was dismantled and set ablaze.

According to Omoni, exhibits recovered from them include one locally made pistol, live Ammunition, one 32inches plasma TV, one generator and one bag of garri.

Other items include Bank ATM Cards, Photographs of the hoodlums.

He said that efforts have been intensified to ensure the timely arrest of the fleeing hoodlums. As we strongly appeal to the public to avail us of any information that can lead to their arrest.
