Rivers House of Assembly asks govt, security agencies to fish out killers

The Rivers State House of Assembly has condemned the activities of criminals in the state.

The condemnation by the assembly followed renewed killings in the state, especially the hostility in Choba, Obio-Akpor Local Government which led to the killing of Mr Lawrence Igwe, the Community Development Committee chairman, and Chief Orji who was the chief priest of the community.

The duo was killed by unknown gunmen of Sunday morning.

The 9th assembly during plenary on Tuesday said it is condemning in the strongest possible terms, the activities of criminal elements responsible for the spate of killings, robberies, kidnappings and such like in Rivers State and the nation at large.

The assembly urged government and security agencies to intensify efforts to curb crime.

It also warned those involved criminal activities in the state to turn a new leaf as criminality impedes the development of any society.
