The Rivers State Ministry of Youth and Sports has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring 8-time Federation Cup Champions, Rivers Angels continue to be one of the best Women’s teams in the country.
This decision was made known to the team when the players paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Pastor James Enebeli.
Pastor Enebeli said the State Government and the good people of the state are very proud of the team following its past achievements and are looking forward to many more to come.
“Rivers Angels continue to put our dear State at the forefront of Women football in the country and we are indeed proud of you,” Pastor Enebeli stated.
“There is no season that this team doesn’t come back home with a trophy and I’m really happy to have witnessed this in my time as a Permanent Secretary.
“The State Government and Ministry will continue to give you all the support required to keep excelling,” he added.
The Permanent Secretary also assured the team of better welfare package and promised the payment of outstanding bonuses as things progress.
Pastor Enebeli urged the team to keep raising the bar in all they do.
Rivers Angels skipper, Charity John, while appreciating the State government and the Ministry of Sports promised that the team will come back home with the 2019 Aiteo Cup title.
“I wish to express my appreciation on behalf my teammates and the management,” John said.
“We are very grateful for the support the ministry has been providing to us since the beginning of this season.
“I want to assure the state that we will be coming home with the Aiteo Cup title,” she added.
The Jewel of Rivers will face Nasarawa Amazons in the Final of the Aiteo Cup on July 23 in a yet to be decided venue.
