Mustapha Dandaura, the newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, on Friday, sent stern warning to kidnappers and cult members, especially those on the East-West Road and other parts of the state to immediately relocate or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
Dandaura in his maiden press briefing at police headquarters at Moscow Road, Port Harcourt said he came to Rivers to fight crime to a standstill in line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police to spread ‘Operation Puff Adder’ in all the Commands across the country.
He vowed to fight those crimes to a standstill, adding that kidnapping and cult-related activities would reduce to the barest minimum.
He said his term would rely heavily on intelligence gathering, constructive engagement and community partnership, recovery of firearms, respect of sanctity of human lives and recovery of illegal firearms to achieve results.
“I am here in the state to fight crime to a standstill in line with the IGP’s directive of cascading the ‘Operation Puff Adder’ in all the Commands across the country.
“Though the operation has not been fully operational in the state, suffice it to say that I have the mandate to be in the state to fight the monsters of cult-related activities, kidnapping, armed robbery, murder and pipeline vandalism bedevilling the state.
“I shall tackle these crimes headlong and bring them to a tolerable level. Rivers State will no longer be conducive for criminals. Therefore, they (criminals) have the option of relocating, repenting or facing the full wrath of the law.
“I promise to declare a total war against violent crimes in the state. My arrival will see the decimation of the criminals on the East-West Road and that of Elele-Owerri Road.
“I strongly pledge to end the attacks on the East-West Road with my new deployment and we shall produce results in the shortest possible time,” Dandaura added.
