Gunmen shoot police escort, snatch N10m from Chinese

A Chinese worker of BN Ceramic Company, an Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi State based company, was attacked on Tuesday by some gunmen.

The gunmen also snatched N10 million from him.

The Chinese who was said to be returning from a bank in Lokoja, the state capital, was accompanied by a police escort when he was attacked at a filling station close to Ganaja village, a suburb of Lokoja.

Earlier reports indicated that the policeman who escorted the expatriate was killed by the robbers, but when contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakim Busari, who confirmed the attack, said the policeman was shot on his legs.

CP Busari also disclosed that several arrests have been made in connection with the robbery. The Commissioner also disclosed that investigation into the matter has commenced and the outcome will soon be made public.
