Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Capt Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu, on Wednesday, met with the Governor of Enugu State, Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to work out modalities surrounding the Akanu Ibiam International Airport safety issues and runway.
Recall that the airport came into the eye of the storm following threats by the then minister of state for aviation, Hadi Sirika, that the airport might be degraded due to the bad runway, proximity to a market and the wrong location of the state radio mast.
Stakeholders, including the 8th senate, however, warned against a downgrade of the airport as it serves an entire region of air travellers.
