The Port Harcourt Club 1928 has created a Book Section to enhance literacy development in the state.

The Captain of the Book Section of Port Harcourt Club 1928 Dr PRIYE IYALLA-AMADI said the book section is aimed at promoting research work and literary activities in the state.

Dr PRIYE IYALLA-AMADI also said that the book section will be opened for children of club members.

She said that the book section was initiated by members of the club because of the high number of intellectuals within Port Harcourt 1928.

She noted that the section will organize activities like a book fair, canvass for book donations from individuals and cooperate bodies.

Dr Amadi in a chat with our correspondent said the book section will also reach out to schools in Rivers State, stating that education is the greatest legacy any organization can leave for the younger generation.

The Captain of the Port Harcourt Club Book section further said that the poor reading culture among youths in the country is worrisome and promised to use the platform to eliminate literacy in society.

She further revealed that the Port Harcourt club will continue to be a model among sports clubs in Nigeria by initiating programmes and events that will benefit the members and the society at large.
