The election petition tribunal sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned for an extension of time in the petition filed by the Governorship candidate of the People Progressive Party, PPP, CLIFFORD EDANUKO against the People Democratic party, its Governorship candidate, Governor Nyesom Wike, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, seeking the nullification of the 2019 gubernatorial election in Rivers state.
The Peoples Progressive Party’s Governorship candidate, CLIFFORD EDANUKO, filed a petition alleging that he was unlawfully excluded from the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state by INEC.
Paul Omasiruchi, Counsel to the PPP Governorship candidate filed an application seeking for the court to grant him an extension of time to enable him to reply the motions filed against him by other parties in the matter.
The three-man panel led by Justice G.K KAIGAMA granted his application and adjourned to the 20th of June for continuation.
Also, the election tribunal adjourned to the 1st of July for the continuation of hearing in the petition filed by Action Democratic Party, ADP, and its candidate, VICTOR FINGASI, against the Independent National Electoral Commission, Governor Nyesom Wike, and the Peoples Democratic Party.
The three-man panel adjourned the matter after striking out an application filed by the ADP counsel DOLAPO TELLA-ATTONI and asked him to officially apply for the placement of the Nigeria Bar Association new seal.
Counsel to ADP, TELLA-ATTONI told our reporter that the absence of the new seal has no negative effect on the case since there is a prove of seal and payment of the seal.
Meanwhile, the election tribunal adjourned to the 20th of June on the legal representation of African Action Congress, AAC, at the national level, in the case filed by the party against the Independent National Electoral Commission, Governor NYESOM WIKE and the Peoples Democratic Party.
