Court Jails Fake Lawyer In Rivers State

A Magistrate Court sitting in Choba, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has sentenced a fake lawyer, Sunday Ejiofor to three years in prison.

It was learnt that the accused defrauded a commercial motorcyclist identified as Wisdom Phillips along Aluu Road on March 25 2019.

According to the police prosecutor, Mr Ejiofor had hired Phillip to convey him to different places, but refused to pay the agreed sum of N15,000 for the three-day service.

He told the court that the convict showed the motorcyclist an identification card bearing his (Ejiofor) passport photograph, which indicated that he was a lawyer before onlookers became interested and took both of them to the police.

After pleading guilty to one charge levelled against him, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Israel Agbeso, sentenced the convict to three years in prison because the accused did not convince the court during the trial, while the sentence was without any option of fine.
