RSU to convoke 2896 students during 2019 convocation ceremony

The Rivers State University says a total of two thousand eight hundred and ninety-six students will graduate from the institution during its 31st convocation ceremony on June 8th, 2019.

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University Prof BLESSING DIDIA stated this during a press conference ahead of the convocation ceremony.

The Vice-Chancellor represented by the Chairman, Senate Ceremonial Committee Prof MACSON AHIAKWOR said the institution has made so much academic progress in the past one year.

He said that the school will be graduating 36 first class students during the ceremony while 88 persons will be awarded Doctorate Degrees.

According to him, two hundred and eighty-five persons will receive a Masters degree.

He also stated that six hundred and five undergraduate students will receive their first degree from Engineering, while one hundred and thirty-five undergraduate students will graduate from the Faculty of Agriculture.

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University Prof BLESSING DIDIA also said that the convocation lecture will hold on Thursday.

He said that the lecture will focus on the Economy and the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill.

Prof Didia said that the lecture will be delivered by Dr Joseph Ellah from Durham University, United Kingdom.

He also said that there will be Novelty match at the main football pitch by convocation arena on Wednesday, June 5th while the Cultural/Variety Day and Cocktail Party will hold on Friday, June 7th.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the visitor to the institution Governor Nyesom Wike will be grace the occasion as well as other notable stakeholders from the State.

He added that other Vice Chancellors from other universities in Nigeria will be invited for the convocation ceremony.
