A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned for ruling on the preliminary objections in the defamatory suit filed by the Amayanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, King Ateke Tom against eight chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.

The trail Judge, Justice E TEETITO gave the new adjourned date when the claimant’s counsel tendered a document that is faint to read.

Justice TEETITO asked the claimant’s counsel to provide a clearer copy of the document and adjourned to 3rd of June for ruling on the preliminary objections by the defendants’ counsels on the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter.

Speaking to newsmen, counsel to the 5th and 7th defendants, Justice Williams, said they are challenging the jurisdiction of the court following the means his client were served.

The Amayanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, King ATEKE TOM is demanding one billion naira from eight chieftains of the APC for alleged defamation of his character by using his image with name calling during a solidarity rally in support of Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state two years ago.
