Miss Loveth Edemnyong, a 15 years old teen from Akwa Ibom state is having the roughest of life in an uncompleted building in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital having been abandoned by her lover after it was discovered she was pregnant.
The pregnant teen said she was in elementary five when a woman she calls “Aunty” took her from the village to join her in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state with the promise of training her in school because her widowed mother, who suffers from stroke could not afford to cater for her and her other siblings.
But going to Yenagoa was the beginning of another hellish life as she was made to assist her guardian sells cooked food (mama put) by the roadside.
She said she was turned into a house help and was constantly maltreated by her guardian who never mentioned anything about school to her, let alone enrolling her.
She said, her aunty beat her with wires and different weapons in her position and sometimes puts pepper in her eyes and her pubic area.
She said, she alone does all the domestic works, both day and night, tired or not tired.
She said the maltreatment became unbearable for her that she was forced to hook up with a boy called Ekpe who also hails from Akwa Ibom state, and happens to be one of their customers at their ‘mama put’ restaurant. She said the boy deceived and took advantage of her with the promise of taking very good care of her if she agreed to have an affair with him.
Out of options, she decided to date the young man which led to her becoming pregnant.
However, she said Ekpe absconded immediately he noticed she was pregnant and she doesn’t even know how many months old her pregnancy is.
When asked if her aunty took her for check-up after she discovered her pregnancy, she said ‘no’, instead, the maltreatment increased.
Also, asked if she would love to go back to meet with her mother or any other relative, she said ‘no’ as she would prefer to live in the uncompleted building than go back to meet her mum that is seriously ill(stroke patient) and suffer, moreover, people would mock her.
She added,’ If God can’t help me, let me die here in this uncompleted building with my unborn child,’ as tears rolled from her eyes.
She said all she needed are “shelter, comfort, rest of mind and a place to deliver my unborn child safely to continue my life in any way I find myself”
