Four persons killed in mindless gun violence in Rivers State

As the spate of killings in Rivers State reach fever-pitch high and with stakeholders calling on the police to do more in tackling insecurity in the state, at least four persons were killed on Saturday night by gunmen in different parts of the state.

At Aluu, Joy Samuel Obuge, an indigene of Otari in Abua-Odual was shot dead by unknown gunmen while returning from work on Saturday night behind the University of Port Harcourt Demonstration Secondary School.

The reason for her killing was not immediately clear but sources say she was probably killed during a robbery attack.

Miss Obuge was a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, department of fine art and design.

At Eneka, three persons were reportedly killed by unknown gunmen who invaded the area around 10 pm on Saturday.

TPCN gathered that about 6 other persons were also injured during the shootout said to have been carried out by cultists.

Despite promises by the Rivers State Police Command that it is tackling the escalating insecurity in the state, more people have continued to die in the hands of gunmen in the state.
