The federal and state government have been called upon to urgently intervene in the military invasion of K-Dere community in Gokana Local Government Area Rivers state.

President of K-Dere Market Women Association, who made the call on behalf of the Women in K-Dere community, stressed that the community has suffered so much from multinational oil companies operating within the area, adding that the constant attack of the community by security personnel is causing concern and should be brought to end.

According to her, the April 19th incidence left many killed, women and children wounded, goods and properties destroyed which the community is yet to recover from.

She however called on Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria SPDC to compensate every woman affected by the incident.

“I am calling on Shell company if they don’t come and compensate K-Dere women whose goods were destroyed by the military officers, their only source of livelihood, we the women of K-Dere will not allow them to operate again in our community. We are not happy with them”
