They have killed my only hope – Mother of boy killed by police at Elimgbu cries out

The mother of a 27-year-old boy killed by a police officer at Elimgbu in Obio-Akpor local government area has said the killer police officer has killed her only hope.

Precious Nyebuchi was on Thursday night, stabbed to death by a police officer attached to the Elimgbu police station simply identified as Chinedu.

A protest over his killing by youths of the area led to the shooting to death of two other persons including a 13-year-old boy.

Trouble started when Atali youths said to be cultists attacked Elimgbu Youths resulting in police intervention.

A fracas ensured leading to confrontations that saw the deceased stabbed by the officer.

However, Nyebuchi’s mother said that seeing the police officer stab her son dead in her presence is the worst thing to ever happen to her.

She explained that her only son did nothing to warrant being killed like a dog on the street, adding that her only hope has been killed.

Our correspondent reports that tension is still high in the area as police struggled through the night to maintain law and order.

Angered youths in the area took to the streets in protest and planned to burn down the police station but they were confronted by the police with gunshots renting the air throughout the night.
